Red button in map pocket ?

Red button in map pocket ?
I drove my brother's 2002 A4 3.0 (great car :-)) and noticed the red button in the map pocket. It had "OFF" written on it. This was in the Drivers Side map pocket. I pressed it and the 'OFF" lit up but nothing happened Any idea? My brother didnt know.

It's to disable the driver's seat memory, in case you don't want the seat to automatically move for some reason. I used it once when I had stuff in the backseat that would have been crushed if the seat was accidentally moved to a position I had pre-set.

No, no, no! Don't touch the shiny red button! ... (click) ... Uh oh...
All kidding aside, it's the main switch to control the memory buttons to store the mirror and seating position. All you did was to turn the memory system off.
