Remove Stereo Headunit?

I have a 2002 A2 3.0quattro. The radio was replaced by the dealer because the display was fried when we bought the car in January. Just recently the radio stopped receiving stations altogether...I suspect the antenna plug has worked itself loose and I've just got poor contact. Should be a relatively simple thing to diy, but I have to get the headunit out first. How do do that? Its a non-BOSE unit and it has the CD changer/Tape/radio all in one.

It looks like there are 4 slits that may be analgous to the 4 pin setup that Ford and other makes use to secure teh radio, but I didn't want to go jamming things in there and risk either screwing it up or scratching the hell out of my dash. Is there a removal kit I cna get at Best Buy or similar store or is there a paperclip method that will work? Perhaps I can reach this by contorting myself under the dash without removing the headunit?

Dealer is an hour away and I'm not crazy about them so I would much rather do this myself.

I bought the radio removal keys from Clair Audi online...

though I think I heard that they stopped selling them because people were stealing radios?

I could be wrong.

Anyway you have two options here.

Buy the radio keys or there is a write up on here to make them yourself.

You can go to Best Buy (or similar store) and ask nicely if they will pull it out for you.

Just swing by an Audi/VW dealer, tell them you are upgrading

you radio and want to take it out, thats what I've done in the past with no problems.
