Default RNS-E w/ iPod Integration

Is there a way I can hardwire my ipod to the car once I install the RNS-E? I did a search and foun that icelink is apparently useless after you swap out the stock headunit. FM Tuners are just horrible. Thanks in advance.

Default You still can use it and benefit from a cleaner sound but you just can't control the iPod using the

radio select buttons, which ultimately was the major benefit of the icelink. I'd get cheaper adaptor like the blitzsafe adaptor or some generic adaptor that uses the CD changer input on the RNS-E. Keep in mind that some special wiring may be needed.

http://www.nsxjr.com/ted/TED_RNS_E.pdf

If I use the CD changer input, that would prevent me from adding a CD changer in the future though no?

Also how much would the adapters you speak of run? I don't mind not being able to use the stereo to control the ipod. Just want some clean static-free sound!

Default You loose the external CD changer, but you can build a switch that still allows you to

use the CD changer + iPod.
I believe the user Boston Driver created one and I think he may still sell the custom harnesses.

I think typically the blitzsafe and others (search on google) run around $100, whereas the icelink is around $100-$200 depending on model, right? I haven't priced the icelinks in a long time (2yrs).

Default Sure beats paying 70 bucks for the crappy FM Tuner

Does the ipod charge when plugged in?

Check out www.enfigcarstereo.com. Best selection of Audi/iPod adapters out there. Good prices too.

Default no, it actually is kind of crude because the blitzsafe uses two RCA input jacks and thus

you need to buy a 3.5mm jack to RCA adaptor. You'll still need to use your power inverter to charge the iPod.

FYI, I have the Kensington FM Transmitter and it works quite well. The sound is pretty damn clear for being FM. I like it because I can take it with me to different cars.

http://www.buy.com/prod/Kensington_FM_Digital_Transmitter_Auto_Charger_for _iPod_33185/q/loc/101/10407004.html
</ul

It all depends on which one you buy. Some do, some don't.
