Timing chain

I am presuming that you are asking about the timing belt.
I am sure someone has tried to save a few dollars by doing so, but it is not advised as the tensioner fails.
The major expense is getting into the engine. While you are there you might as well change the water pump, and the front cam seal and the idler wheel.

It's possible, but very involved. You have to remove timing belt, both cams, etc. See video below for an idea of what it would take. Why are you doing this? The pads are worn?

Well the chain is rubbing against the cam cover and nearly made it's way through it from the inside unsure why it's done it. chain may of stretched or tensioner has gone. Didn't want to touch the belt really it may become expensive with having to take all the front end of to take the belt of then may aswell change it aswell as the new water pump
