Default Tip Poll...

Do most Tiptronic drivers here shift manually or leaving it in "D" or "S"?

Based on a lot of prior posts, I'm wondering why most are not using the manual shift feature 100% of the time. Especially coming from a clutch.

Default hardly ever

maybe if I need to slow down a little, or if I want to be able to floor it without it kicking down.

I will stay in S mode often.

Though i've been staying in D more often in the hopes of better mileage, 22mpg gets old. (it isn't helping either)

Default S in city aggressive (ie no traffic driving ballz out), D otherwise

Tip still kicks down if thats what your going after and no i dont care about gas mileage in the city the "S"port mode is far more fun unless i'm driving the in-law's around.

Default This '06 tip loaner is a 6 speed.Thought I'd never care for an auto-tranny...

but with the 2.0T, it's pretty damn slick.

Even blips the throttle up on downshifts.

Default We use D most of the time. I shift manually in some "sporty" situations.

S mode is completely useless since the LY programming recall.

I've been meaning to write AoA about the recall but just haven't gotten around to it.

Same here. Best of both worlds IMO. Clutchless shifting is the way to go. I'd like the TIP to feel less auto-like in its shifts though. Mainly when cold. And that's being done with the new DSG versions.

There will alwys be a place for true manual trannys though, and I hope they'll always be available in certain cars.
