Transmission code importance...
Need to replace tranny in 2003 manual A4 1.8T, code GBT.
I have read that I can use any 2003 refurbished transmission, regardless of code. Is this true?
From audizine.com forum, "All you need is a 5spd manual quattro transmission. Don't worry about the codes. The codes just reference gear ratios and such...If it is out of a B5 you will have to swap the front driveshaft flanges and the tailshaft housing from your existing B6 transmission to the new B5 transmission."
Would be nice to have a variety of 2003 A4 1.8 manual transmissions to choose from - the used ones I'm finding vary in price/mileage.
