Default Tuner parts increase/decrease value at trade-in?

Before I mod my A4 I want to consider what I will do to the resale of my car.

What will a used stock A4 1.8T be worth in 2/3/4 years compared to a car with mods?

Do dealers shy away from chipped cars, aftermarket rims, body kits, etc?

Has anyone ever worked where they take Audi's in on trade?

Default IMHO, it will reduce resale, unless you find a buyer that is looking for a tuned car

But I would never buy a non-original used car. My $0.02.

Do whatever you want but don't expect the $ back. Don't go overboard. West Coast is different than E

Default In reality, who really wants to buy a tuned car?

We all want to buy from that 80 yr old lady who only drove her stock car to church & the grocery store on Sundays. That's the ideal seller, because chances are she did not beat the snot out of her car.

Default plenty of people do, but far from the masses....

Most people strip off their tuned parts and resell them. Something like a chipped ECU retails almost FULL value because there is no deprecitation.

Other parts don't retain the value, but there's ALWAYS people looking to pick up a used tuner part for a decent price. You won't make it all back, but you won't loose it all either.

Default I'm talking "car", you're talking "parts".

People who tune their cars tend to drive more agressively than people who don't. The car typically has been subjected to more abuse than a regular stock car.

Default I was talking car and parts.

People DO want to buy tuned cars, but they are people who wanted to tune in the first place. It's not the mass population as I said.

You can get a steal if you buy a car pre tuned. You just run the risk of not knowing truthfully how the car was kept, but people still do it.

I've also seen stock cars beaten far worse than a tuned car. Why? Many people don't give a rats *** about their car, people who tune them do. They keep them in tip top shape because they care about the car and it's running/performance.

So it can go both ways.

I suppose so. I just think your risks are higher with a tuned car.
