Vcds coms error
Right peeps got an a4 b6 fitted cruise and cant get vcds to talk to steering control module comes up with to many communications errors to continue read online it could be cheap lead but same lead works perfectly on my other 2 a4s it also says same on central electrics also tryed 2 diferent laptops and 2 other completly different setups ie mate vcds also when the vcds is trying to read the part numbers serials to get the info from steering control first i have ines where the numbers should be ie l l l l l l l the is finds t some numbers but look like they are corupted as instead of numbers it has leters somtimes symbols any one shed some light please

The communications uses k-line which is a bi directional line. Meaning any module ecu tcu etc etc only needs one wire to work. That and power to the module of course. So what you’re looking for to test is power to the module that you’re trying to communicate with. And continuity I believe it’s pin 7 on the obd port to one of the pins (don’t have a diagram) on the module itself. If all those are fine then it will be the module itself. If you google Bosch ecu pinout Kline from some of the images you’ll get a general idea how it works.
