Default Warning buzzer (lights?)

Just drove my 2004 A4 estate with the lights on. On stopping I switched off the engine, turned the lights off, but still got a warning buzzer when I opened the driver's door. Playing with the switch made no difference, eventually I shut the door, and the buzzer stopped (the lights were not on). Used it straight afterwards, and there was no warning buzzer.

I'm assuming the buzzer was the lights; is there anything else it could have been?

Only had the car ten days, and just covered 250 miles (with lights on and off), but it could have been standing around a while before I bought it. Any advice welcome.

Was the the indicator stalk possibly in the left or right position, rather than in the middle/neutral position. I think if you turn the parking lights on, the indicator stalk can be used to control which side stays lit.

Ah, a good thought, but I'd pulled up straight, and wasn't indicating (and no lights stayed on). But thanks, I will certainly check this if it happens again.
