A4 stalling issues
The problem was after I would start my car, the engine would run for about a second or so and then it would stall out.
The dealership said it was probably the fuel sensor so they swapped it out with a new one and that was that. A couple days later my car started with the same problem again stalling a second or two after startup. Odd thing is that after it stalls, I restart the car and it works perfectly...
I am bringing my car back down tomorrow, but I wanted to see if anyone has heard of this happening with any 2.0T's.
Car is still factory spec.
Hope this helps!
As for the computer. It looks like they did something to the car computer because when the car starts now. It idles at 1000 - 1200 rpm instead of what it used to idle at 750 - 900 rpm.
Gotta drive it around to see if it was bad grade fuel or if the dealer was giving a line. It has stalled twice since yesterday. Dealer said to drop by if it keeps up.
Just a quick question, does the car computer log anything when it stalls or only if it generates a fault code?
Funny thing out of this is the car stalled for the service writer and the look on his face was priceless.
I can see bad gas causing a problem but not 91 octane. Is 93 octane even available in California? If not then they couldn't even sell Audis and a lot of other cars in the entire state...
It would not hurt to get your gas somewhere else just in case.
I would worry that idle speed increase is just covering up the problem because they don't have any idea what to do.
So I brought the car down to another dealer yesterday. An hour after I had dropped my car off, I got a phone call from the dealer stating the problem was corrected. The service writer mentioned that all they had to do is reset the ecu with the updated program (I thought the other dealer did this already). When I go pick up the car later today, I am going to ask what was wrong with the car.
The loaner car was nice, Ibis White A3 2.0T S-Tronic. I would have prefered a manual but they do not loan manuals :P
