adding shift paddles?

Not sure one 12 MM triple square tool
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but this was the best DIY I could find for replacing the steering wheel and I wanted to provide some feedback.
I just replaced my 3-spoke MFSW with a 3-spoke MFSW with paddle shifters from an S4 over the weekend. I followed these instructions and it's working like a charm now. The paddle shifters make this car a lot more fun to drive. I have a 2006 B7 A4 Avant 2.0T Tip.
But at least in my car the 12 MM triple square described above was way too big for the bolt to take the steering wheel off the steering column. I went to AutoZone and picked up a 12 MM triple square socket, figuring it would be handy to have and ended up having to return it. But the 3/8 inch hex I had in my toolbox fit perfectly, for future reference.
Thanks for the great DIY, sounddroid.
Also, you can easily pull off the tabs that cover the small screws with a fingernail. No need to risk buggering them up with a screwdriver.

Followed this yesterday with my '07 B7 and it was only about a 25 minute job until I had fully working paddles! HOWEVER, after several restarts of the car and about 12 hours I still have no remote windows. They don't work holding the key in position or via the FOB (which I had previously setup). Any suggestions? Should it take longer than that? Coding is still all good, etc.

disregard - got it sorted! apparently i didn't do the windows up and down enough times to reset the auto function. hopefully me looking dumb will help the next guy! LOL!

Thank you
Can’t thank you enough for this post. So I live in India and my A6, 3.0 supercharged V6 always had a R8 steering with paddle shifters but before I read this post no one at Audi could program or rather refused to do it . So I drive around for 7 years without ever using the paddle shifters.
After reading this post and a visit to a garage who had the VAG and boom in less than 2 minutes my driving experience went from hell to heaven .
Its such a difference and when you can rev the engine to its optimum level by using the shifters
thanks once again for this well detailed post
cheers / RKn

@Herley Beliard Don't know for sure but would expect the process to be pretty much the same as for the B7. Suggest you put a note into the B8 forum; you might even get a response from someone who has done the same upgrade.
