Audi A4 CD Error
Hello guys! I have a problem on my Audi A4 2.0 B7model (2006). I bought it on second hand and I had it for 4years. Today I tried for the first time to play a CD. First I loaded my CD that i have had attached music files to it and it said CD Error. I tought that i made a mistake and then i loaded an original CD. It was the same error. If you have any suggestions please tell me. Thank you!

There are a few reasons you may be getting the error messages, they usually have an error number that helps define the problem. That being said, two common problems that have simple solutions. One, remember, they do not read mp3 formats, and sometime struggle with burned CD's. Secondly I have found a lot of reading errors are remedied by an easy cleaning of the laser. This is done by removing the head unit from the car, removing the main top cover and the cover of the cd transport. Sometimes the cd transport will need to be removed from the headunit maybe required. Now, once you have easy access to the laser, a GENTLE swabbing with a dry q-tip is all that is needed to clean it. You should after, the Cd player will read quicker. Good luck, it's fun and easy... just be gentle. The laser is on a lightly suspended on a floating transport.

Sometimes the optical sensors, the ones that say a disc is in the transport get covered by dust. They look like led's, but are inferred led's( they don't emit a visible light). Cleaning them may help. Unfortunately may require more work than the factory head unit is worth. Upgrading to a modern unit is money better spent. More options. Easier to upgrade to more powerful amplifiers and better speakers.. No highs, no lows. Must be Bose. If you have the ability to monitor the functions of the CD transport during ejection, you may be better able to diagnose what is causing the issue.. a broken tooth on a gear?? Or?
