Where did you read this?

The dock connector is digital for USB/Firewall connections but the audio is analog (I was reading the pinout for the dock connector and it's basically a L, R and ground signals).

From what I know....

The Dension IceLink and the OEM Audi connection do not do any digital to analog conversion. The CD input on the back of the SYmphony is purely analog. We don't have the fibre link like that found on the Porsche for example.

Here's the pinout on the dock connector:

I'm pretty sure that the adapters uses pins 3 and 4 and either 1 and 2. The other pins for digital data is used only by the USB and/or Firewire.

Blitzsafe

Another option is the Blitzsafe adapter. This connects at the back of the radio and gives you a dock connection with power. All control is through the iPod.

MP3 Quality

Actually, I don't use MP3's hardly ever. I have an Apple, so I've converted all my music to AAC (MPEG-4). All my music is encoded at 128 kbps, what kind of sound quality could I expect from that? That's one reason why I want an iPod hookup; it sounds like you cannot play AAC audio files off the SD slots or make MP3 cd's. Is this true?
