B7 BWT engine 2007 2008

Why was the BPG 2.0 dropped after 2006, replacing with BWT on the 2.0 for 2007 & 2008?

noticed difference in torque rpm

I noticed from a chart I found on this site that the BWT makes its torque at 1800 rpm as opposed to 2000 on the BPG. Is this better or worse for top end power?

I haven't seen the data, but usually moving the torque curve lower will...

mean more power off the line. It's hard to know if the powerband has been widened or just moved without seeing the charts though.
