Default boost controller on an apr chip

a buddy of mine game a gredy boost controller and i went to the shop and they said that it cant be installed because the turbo, wastegate, and anifold are all one piece. there is no nipple to attach the boost line to. and they said that is there is to be a successful install, that the car would be running maybe 2-3 pounds more(which is better than not) but can be running the turbo too much and wont see a noticable gain because the turbo would be delivering nothing but hot air, so then i mentioned that i am going to be spraying meth when i turn the boost up to cool it down some but they still denied it. any one please?lol

Default find the N75 valve and connect the controller into the vac line that runs from N75 to wastegate.

The shop was right though, it will push hot air and you'll only be able to crank up a couple of psi extra before ECU cuts in and throws the car into limp.

p.s. Make sure there is enough fuel to support that extra boost.

Default i was doing some research and...

i found out that the stock fuel rail can hold up to like 400whp. im not sure so dont take my word for it but i do know that i can definatly hold over 300whp...and when im done with my phase one set up, if i can get that boost controller pushing 23 pounds, i should be up in the 290-300whp catagory..

Default I think you're a "bit" optimistic on that HP number.

1) The K03 simply won't flow that much boost.
2) There are more things to fuel delivery than the fuel rail.

Even if you could spike the K03 to 23psi, it won't hold that boost to red line. You need a REAL turbo to hold that much boost. I wouldn't expect K03 to hold at more than 17-18psi.

Default Please do not do this. APR and others are tuning for max efficiency...

if you have logged injector on-times you would see the injectors are at their max for efficiency and the fuel pump will also give you hiccups. Meth is great to use to reclaim power from heat soak, but turning up the tuning and relying on the meth is stupid IMO. You should see the number of clogged nozzles and other failures reported on the 1.8t with meth. So if you have a failure of that unit and are tuned to rely on it, you will be SOL on a 10 grand motor.

Default Actually they tend to tune "soft" so that it works in all of the cars without any issues.

Just look at the B5's. Boost levels just kept going up but were still lower then what the K03 could handle.

Adding more boost on a small turbo just tends to add more tq then it does hp. The down side is that you also decrease the length of the power band.

Where are you getting this HP rating from? Is this on K03?

Default You can squeeze a few more PSI out of the regular APR tune but anything above will throw the car

into limp mode and isn't beneficial because it will be outside of the efficiency range of the turbo. TT guys have been doing this for a while on the K04. We normally get it to hold boost at around 21 psi which is still within K04's efficiency and our fueling can handle the extra air. However, doing this without FMIC is rather pointless imho and before every kid on the block tries this on a B7, someone needs to spend some time making sure that the fueling can handle it.
