can anyone tell me what the last letter means?
TIAMick
Do be careful because updates / revisions are not the only thing that last letter indicates. Audi also uses it to distinguish versions. As an example, the Audi roof rack for the avant and allroad have the same part number, but, the final letter is different. In such case the root part number is the same; but, the version is different so it technically won't cross-fit.
If you go to one of the official Audi on-line parts vendors and search the original part number or search by your model info, they will often indicate an update history indicating what the latest complete part number is for that original part. There may be a message indicating that the part is superseded and they frequently indicate the chain of part numbers showing the steps in the superseded part number. Theoretically, a chain of superseded part numbers should be compatible; but, a version may not be compatible. Keep in mind that in a chain of superseded parts, one of the reasons for being superseded might be a problem with that revision so that might be a reason not to pick a part that has been superseded. It could be a bit of a crap shoot..
