Default Aha

Install is easy, as the software is downloaded through the OBD port. But you need to go to a dealer.

Best chip... APR, REVO, GIAC and Neuspeed have good software. Differences between these are religious battles, so do not ask.

IMHO, the best chip is the one that is installed and supported by a shop that is close to you. Also the ability for you to switch programs is important... APR and REVO are the only ones that currently support this.

Good luck.

Default It's OK not to respond if you don't have anything helpful to offer ....

I don't mean to offend you, but I see this type of response all the time on these types of forums. If you don't want to take the time to answer the guy's question, you can just let it go and leave it for someone else.

Default Here's an idea of costs...

from my recent shopping:

Revo: $499 + SPS1+ controller, which wasn't out yet, but they thought it might be $250. The controller lets you switch from a stock mode to the enhanced performance mode.

APR: $599 + $149 + tax ends up being about $800 for 91 octane program and their stock mode software. It switches with a soft switch programmed into the speed control stalk. Other options available at higher cost.

Others here have more performance info and comparisons.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Default Doesnt this void the factory warranty?

I am going to be trading in my 2005 Honda S2000 for a A4 2.0 (I am moving to CO and need an AWD) and was looking for a little more power. I have been looking into chip upgrades but dont want to void the factory warranty. I was going to get a supercharger for my S2000 but it did void the warranty even though they can be installed and purchased through the dealer.

Yes it can, definitely do it at your own risk.

In the engine forum it was stated that if the chip was turned to factory mode or OEM mode that the dealer couldnt detect it?

Default this topic has been beaten to death. i'm merely leading him/her towards the search function.

i feel by telling him/her to search, that i am helping. if you feel like answering this question everytime it comes up, then be my guest.

but from now on, i just won't respond to anything unless i have the perfect answer. my apologies to the B7 board.

Default When I first started reading this forum

I searched first (in the B6 forum at the time) and it brings rain if you start with "chip" and then learn the manufacturer names, and then search those. I'm sure I spent hours reading, and trying to understand. Then I asked and people were nice enough to respond and offer some help.

So yes, it's been beaten to death, but what hasn't? :-)

I spend more time now in the Detailing forum, trying to figure out a compromise between the right way and what I can actually do.
