HELP PLEASE
Im New to the forum so thanks in advance ok here it is i have a 2005 AUDI A4 QUATTRO 3.0 with 109k wife was smelling anti-freeze from time to time i changed the oil all looked fine but notice there looked like oil in the overflow coolant bottle the car temp gauge never went past the middle then one day it over heated when i drove home from work needle never went past the half way mark but it was bubbling over took it to a shop and he said its a head gasket but i don't think he really looked into the car i.e pressure test or anything i don't really want to spend 4k on this repair could it be something else

It's pretty easy to test. Did your mechanic test it? It only takes a couple of minutes. But oil in the coolant tank is a pretty big tell.
