Intermittent Stalling
I’m having an issue with intermittent stalling of my 2006 A4. It started about a week ago, when after a 2 hour drive, I pulled over to the side of the road, and the engine shut down. When I tried to restart it the car would start for only a few seconds than sputter and shut down again. This went on for about 30 minutes. As I was getting ready to have the car towed, the car started normally and I was able to drive home without issue. It continued to drive for several days without issue, and I replaced the crank position sensor after doing some research that indicated it was the likely culprit.
Yesterday, however, the issue returned. Had parked somewhere for lunch after a one hour drive, and when I got back into the car to leave after lunch I had the same issue with the car starting for a few seconds then dying. After a few minutes of this, the car started fine and I was able to drive home normally. So I guess the crank sensor replacement was not the fix. I’m not getting any CEL or codes.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
