Lighting errors
I have an '06 A4 B7 Avant 3.2 and I keep getting errors on the dash relating to indicators and now dipped beam "not working".
A while ago, I replaced my front bumper with a DTM style fiberglass one, so that meant a foglight delete which has obviously given warnings. Could this have knock-on issues and can I use vagcom to tell the car it doesn't have foglights anymore?
Firstly, my dipped beams DO work (factory xenons), so I don't understand the reason for the error. I recently replaced one of the xenon bulbs because one stopped working. Could it be that the car can recognise one new and one old bulb somehow and think there's an issue?
Secondly, my indicators seem to fail more often than seems reasonable. The other day one side would blink quickly like they do when a bulb is out, but the bulbs are fine. The other side rear bulb has blown 2 or 3 times in the 3 years I've had the car.
One thing to note is that I replaced the headlights with another pair of stock headlights. They appear identical to the older ones. I replaced them because I went the route of LED indicator bulbs and DRL bulbs. The ones that need the big resistor. I opened up the headlights because I wanted to spray the chrome bits black. While they were open I decided to mount those resistors inside the housing and they got so hot they melted part of the housing, so that's the reason I just replaced the whole assembly for ones I got from a salvage yard. I still wanted LED indicators and DRLs, so I went with Morimoto ones that don't require resistors.
Finally -- and probably importantly -- my sunroof has a leak and the passenger side footwells have accumulated water sometimes. Are there modules down there that can get damaged and need replacing?
Thanks in advance for any advice
