Need Advice! Engine failure
2006 Audi A4 with 1.8 t engine and 109,000 miles was in a front end collision (hit car going through red light) and had the front bumper and core support replaced by auto collision repair shop. Fifteen minutes after driving away from shop, low oil pressure light came on. I called repair shop and was told to return to shop. Car stalled one mile from repair shop and would not restart. Mechanic found the timing belt was turning when the engine was cranking. Mechanic proceeded next to check to see that the cam shafts were turning. Found that one of the cam shafts was not turning. Removed the valve cover and rear cover. Found the cam gear on the back of the engine had the mounting bolt sheared off. Removed the cam for inspection and found damage to both the cam and the cylinder head. Checked compression and noted the rear cylinder had 80% leak down.
Question: Do you think that the problem with the mounting bolt being sheared off could have been caused by the front end collision or is this an Audi issue? Is it normal for this to happen with 109,00 miles?
