Hey guys, I picked up my first Audi back in August and up until now I’ve had nothing but joy with it. It’s a Stage 1 APR B7 Avant and I love the car to bits. However, I just got the CEL on and decided to change the plugs and coils, thinking that would fix it. Nope. After I changed them, I noticed a big oil leak on the pavement. After looking around I thought it was my oil filter housing, but that looked fine. I figured maybe it’s the vacuum pump, and it looked alright but underneath was just horrible to even look at. I need help figuring out what might be the cause of the leak, and what would be best step forward. Thanks.
I would check out your vacuum pump for starters, they are known to start leaking right in the area as your picture shows, just replace the pump ,I tried just replacing the o ring on the pump but that did not do it. Pump starts leaking internally, I would also check out your rear coolant flange and make sure it is not leaking, once the vacuum pump leaks oil on the coolant flange it corrupts the coolant flange O-ring and you get double the trouble.

Holy cow that coolant flange has been leaking for quite some time by evidence of the brown crud on everything below it. Also, the vacuum pump IS leaking oil. I can see the oil sheen in the pic.
This can be a DIY repair. The dealer shop will charge you up the Kazoo. (They don't want to work on your older Audi in the first place.)
There are tutorials on the YouTube and here is a load of advice and tips I have put together on the subject. I just did my C/F and V/P a few weeks ago. It's not so much a "How-to" but tips on how to make it easier the next time. (And there WILL be a next time on these rigs.)
