No windshield mouting?

I am thinking of going to Minnesota during the Thanksgiving weekend. I heard that they don't allow people to mount anything to the windshield. Does it mean I need to put my radar detector on the dash?

Re: It means you don't have to do anything.

You aren't required to know all the laws of neighboring states. If you were bothered by it, you can just say you're from out of town and were unaware of the law.

I passed through the parking lot of a shopping plaza because the line was too long for a right turn. I got a ticket because I "avoided traffic device". I didn't know that...
It happened in my own state though.

That's a law everywhere.

You are "required" to know the laws within your own state.

By having something mounted to your windshield and being from another state where that is legal is something you can get away with.

Just like having your windows tinted and traveling to another state where that is illegal is not something you will be cited for.

How about if you use radar detector in a RD illegal state?

Can you get away with that if you are from out of state?

I have had mixed results - lost one in Connecticut years ago, but one time in DC a cop stopped me to tell me they are illegal and to put it in the trunk. I would be careful though, being an out of stater may be an excuse for ignorance, but it also puts you into the "unwelcome" class (potentially at least, especially if you have NY plates). Whenever I go to Montreal, Canada I remove the RD before crossing the border and put it in my "tools/cleaning supplies" box in the trunk.
