Financial and practical implications are always a part of the equation, but...burnt rubber smells better than unused tires.
The more events you do and the "harder" you drive then maybe things wear out quicker. I highly suggest you do at least 1 event to see what your car is capable of. Then you'll realize how easy you drive it on the street compared to what the car is capable of. And riding with an instructor will really make you realize how wussy of a driver you are.

And even that is not terrible. The oil will get thin and dark, so it should be changed. The brakes and tires will have a shortened life and make a lot more noise following the event. How much shorter depends on how you drive.
An HPDE is the BEST way to learn about your car. I think it should be law. Well, not really but even Audi runs driving schools and events, which show confidence in their product. I did an event in April with the local Corvette club. I had such a good time I'm going back again this year. (I can't wait!!) Turns out that a stock Audi is a pretty darn fun car to drive fast, and I passed more vettes than passed me. ;-) Since I was signed off last year, I get total freedom this year, and can play around with better drivers this time. It's gonna be a blast! But I gotta chip it first.
Most tracks run "open" events throughout the year, or you can go with a club, including the AudiClub NA. Do it, you WON'T regret it.
Bringing Audi to Life for Audi Fans
I actually believe my TT would be in better shape if it was only a track car, roads in dallas are horrible. the smooth track is another plus.
And we all secretly wish we were race car drivers, the track fulfills the fantasy is some ways.
