problems with chipping?

Ive read the pros and cons (wait, i havent heard the cons...) of chipping the 2.0T manual B7...so im not asking which one to go with or any of that.

ive had my B7 for a little over a year now, and I've really wanted to chip it. my reason for not doing so is the fear of developing a problem that wouldnt isn't covered under the warranty and then having to fork over a lot of money.

so...my question is...has any actually experienced a problem with their chipped car that was not covered by the warranty but would have been covered if not for the chip?

I have the same question as you, and I'm getting my 2007 Audi A4 2.0T Q6M soon. Should I wait a few years before chipping, or I heard there are "socket" ones that you can switch out when you go to the dealer for warranty service...

Just don't want to reduce the life of my Audi too early...

STFA! if you do some searches for stuff like "APR" and "GIAC" and "chip" and "ECU upgrade" you might find some answers. also, a call to APR, or perhaps a peak at the web site might also answer your questions. good luck.

i have done some searching and have found no problems with the apr my buddy has a b6 with 85000 miles on it with a apr and has not had a single problem any ways if you screw up your car buy a new one

After six months of checking this forum, I don't recall EVER reading about a problem that cancelled the warranty because of chipping. Lots of theoretical discussion, both technical and legal. I find that compelling, since owners in that situation are highly likely to share their story on these pages.

Now, that could be because dealers honor the warranties even when the car is chipped (whether they know it or not), or it speaks to the lack of engine problems. Either way, it clears the way for the transformation a chip can make on an turbo A4.
