Remote Key Issues

I am aware from reading on this board that there are known problems with B7 keys, and a TSB iirc. My car was delivered with one key that wouldn't work, and that the service shop couldn't program. They said they needed to order new keys, and I decided just to deal with it at my first service (haven't reached 5K miles yet) since my other key worked fine. But, in the past few days, my good key keeps failing to lock/unlock the car. It is not a distance issue - it won't do it from anywhere, including in the car itself. I can reset it, and it works fine for a day or week, and then unexpectedly quits again. Is this second issue the key fob problem mentioned in TSB, or is it the first one (cars being delivered with keys that cannot be programmed)? What is the fix - a new key?

Does cold impact the keys? It has been f-ing freezing here in MN for he past week.

Temperature has no bearing, replace the two keys

My two replacement keys are working fine. One did quit but they were able to reprogram it with the computer (reprogramming it as per the manual didn't work).

i'm having the same issues

i thought it was the weather too.
My key would work sometimes and not work at all sometimes. I've been having this problem whenever the car's not warm..in the morning and night...
should i replace my keys as well?

Key issues

I have been facing the same problem in past couple weeks. Really don't know what to do. Its weird some times it works sometimes it doesn't...go figure..

yeah, we just had the same issue with a key that stopped working. The service advisor said it's a known issue and the serial # for our keys fell in the affected range so he ordered us 2 new keys.

Easy fix, guys....

Tell your service department and they'll order 2 new keys... when they come in, you can bring the car in for programming, which takes about 10 min. My service dept was unaware of the issue (2005) so I had to show them the TSB.
