Remote Starter
Hey all, I just picked up a 2006 A4 in manual and since I live in Canada and I hate getting into a cold car I was thinking about getting a remote starter. So, I was wondering if anyone here has installed one on their cars and if they had any recomendations as to which brand and model to get. Also, most importantly do they interfere with the stock alarm at all?

Not a good idea in general, but especially for FSI cars.
1) Cold idling will cause much more engine wear. In fact, with modern engines, you should not idle for more than 1/2 minute at startup before driving off. Just drive gently until engine has fully warmed up.
2) FSI engines need a highly pressurized fuel system at startup. When the engine is off & cold for a while and you open the driver's door, you can hear a motor sound. That's the car prepping the fuel system for startup. More info is in the owner's manual.
3) STFA! It's a goldmine of knowledge (& useless tidbits)! :-)
