remote starter

Has anyone installed a remoter starter on their car yet? If so, what and how much? TIA.

Never a fan of them -, never understood the need or the risk:

1. starting a car and having it move
2. making the car subject to being stolen easier.

Used to have them on previous (non-Audi) cars. Very convenient to heat them in the winter, especially when there's ice all over it. There's no additional risk of it being stolen. As soon as you get in and touch anything without putting in the key, it shuts off immediately.

Not sure of the cost, but my only advice is that if you end up getting one, get a top-quality starter and don't cheap out.

Not recommended for FSI engines.

What, never understood the need?

Here's the reason: When you leave work in your business cloths and step out to -10 degree temps, 20 mph winds, ice caked on your windshield from the heater in the morning melting the 6" of new snow on your windshield before freezing it, adding an extra 10 minutes to your trip home just to clear off your windows, you'd wish you had a remote starter!

I wish I had one if for no other reason than to get home quicker so I can jump on my snowmobile and go enjoy the fresh powder!

Seeing that you are from Colorado (my original home state) I'd figure you would already know this though (grin.) Granted, you only get an average of 60" of snow in Denver annually compared to our 160" where I live, but that should still be enough to see the need.

Our engines don't like idling when cold. It's best to start the engine...

let is idle for about 30s to a minute then gently drive off.

i have one....

and i love it... being in florida... cools down the car nicely... my is stick shift and i had a hard time finding someone to do it.. but we did and i dotn regret it at all
