software update???
my car is at audi right now for a "software update". my buddy is the tech working on my and he was reading me what the description was but he was never told nor does it say what the update is for. the cel and epc light came on asking for a system update. what exactly does it need to be updated? how the does the computer know it NEEDS and update if my dude has never touched the ecu of my car before. he always knew that the car was chipped. i called up apr and they are goingt o reflash my ecu for free on top of the newer software but i dont understand how does it know it needs an update..its like a windows pc telling me i need updates with no internet connection..

The system the tech uses tells him the ECU needs an update based on information retrieved from it.
It is most likely the error code and related "Campaign" for the B7 that basically indicates the ECU cannot display a certain error code because of a bug with the original ECU code.
