Default Trim Was Changed....

For anyone following the thread about light or dark interior trim, they did change the "wood" on my car from the vavona to a darker walnut trim but it did "go over" the wood. It's not what I expected. It looks good but the more I look at it, the more I wish I hadn't changed it only b/c you can see the light wood underneath (in some places much more than others!). I guess the cheap way is to use the synthetic overlay stuff that sticks on rather than the "real wood" - just thought you might want to know. Better be specific if you want the dealer to change the wood and make sure that's what you want and know how it might come out.

did the dealer do it or did it come that way? did you ask for the change after it was already here?

Default Let me get this straight...

You got them to place stick-on fake wood on top of the original wood trim? Or you thought you were getting the real OEM stuff?

They should have actually remove the original trim pieces and replace them with the darker oem ones.

Ask to see what they billed you for. Stick-on stuff should not be more than a couple of $100.

I had the order written up for dark wood, they couldn't find it and said they would change the wood if I didn't like it. The salesperson did tell me that it goes over the other wood but I never heard of that and a few people on this site agreed with me that it doesn't go over the wood but lo and behold that's what they did... placed the stick on fake wood on top of the original factory wood trim. I thought I would be getting the real deal and that the sales guy didn't know what he was talking about since he was new. He told me after they did it that this was the first time they had ever done that!!! You would think that they would have had identical pieces to at least go over the parts but there are spots where the trim is not as wide so you can see the lighter wood underneath. It didn't come out so good and I feel like the car is devalued now. On top of that, I can't take the fake stuff off b/c the guy who did this job, used a permanent marker in a lot of spots to try and make it look like it was filled in correctly. They charged me $300.00 and I thought that was a good price although that price also included changing the rims so I look at it as I paid $300.00 for getting the rims changed (which I love) and getting a shoddy wood job.

the dealer did it.
I asked for the change b/c I wanted dark wood and they wanted to make me happy so they offered to change the wood (um not really change I guess, just stick on). This was the only car they could locate in the northeast. White 6MT is hard to find as I was working with several other dealers to get the best price and this was the only one around.

What can I do? Do you think the dealer would do anything for me?

Default Yes, It's your money and your car...

you should talk to the dealer and tell me that you undrestood that they will swap the trim pieces for the darker one, not that they will use some cheap oldsmobile type of stick on top of the original wood, and that on top of that, the least you expected is to get a shody job were you can tell.

They ruined the car, they should remove the trim pieces that are now garbage due to the sticj on, and replaced them with the factory original ones.

Fake wood trim on an Audi is like a fake carbon fiber trim on a Porsche... not acceptable.
