is this something worth taking the car to the dealer about?

Default Since you are not overheating, it could be just a needle or the connection problem. I would take
it in eitherway... Who knows if the ECU is reading the same? If that's the case then you will see the ECU in cold start mode longer... (Which use a little more gas....)

Default Coolant temp sensor is busted.
Had the same thing on my B6 during summer. Take it to the dealer.

3rd. Inaccurate temp (or oil pressure) gauge are usually caused by faulty sensors/ sending units.
