100 octane?

Very interesting. How much does the ACES IV cost per gallon? I was looking into future mods, and the ability to run a 100 octane map is a big plus.

A number of us from the rs6.com board have been using ACES IV from BND Automotive in our chipped RS6s. WIth 91 or 92 octane pump gas, and ACES IV added, the 100 octane APR tune runs fine, without any knock, but with one heck of a kick. I thought the stuff was snake oil when I first heard of it, but many on the board run it routinely. I've gone through about a gallon and a half of it (add 1 ounce to each 6 gallons of gas) and run the 100 octane tune full time. I'm in California where pump premium is about $4.25 and 100 octane close to $7/gallon. We recently added an APR tuned 2009 A4 to the family stable, running it full time with ACES IV as well. With pretty extensive searching I've found no downside to it, and search the RS6,com board if you want to dig into more comments. Brian at BND will give you the scoop. I don't recall the cost of a gallon of ACES IV off the top of my head, but it is in the range of $200. That sounds like a lot, but remember that will treat 768 gallons. That works out to around $0.20/gallon to boost 91 octane to 100 octane. That is markedly better than filling up with 100 octane at the pump. I would suggest if you are doubtful, get a smaller amount and run it for a while. As I suggested, no one on the RS6.com forum who has run with the ACES IV has reported a problem, and if anything, our engines run cleaner than ever. Intercoolers are clean and plugs look pristine. Call them and talk to Brian.

Do you have any logs or other data that would show the octane boost? I'd really like to see data on an Audi before I pay to get flashed to the 100 octane program. How much boost does the 100 octane map run on your RS-6? I'm thinking our puny little 2.0T might be working a bit harder than the RS-6 beast
