Default 15,000 service

I am approaching 15k. The oil and filter was changed by Audi at 5k. I changed the oil an filter myself at 13k. I rotate my own tires. car is running perfect as far as I can tell. Why should I bring it in to Audi for a 15k service? are they actually going to do anything of value for the fee charged? I am sure some filters should be changed but I am hopeful that someone on this forum can tell me which ones I need and i will DIY. I also have a gifted and trusted local mechanic I can bring the car to as another option. are there any issues I am missing. I dont want to be a bone head i.e. have a warantee issue because I cant document that a 15k service was done. Also dont know if there are any flashes etc that only Audi can do. Would appreciate any thoughts.

BTW - I own the car.

Thanks.

I heard there is an updated firmware reflash (probably depends on your drivetrain configuration though), and some folks have had their headrests modified per a non-safety related campaign. I take it you didn't purchase the Audi Care, which is why you're trying to avoid the service. I think the owner's manual describes what is performed @ the 15k mark, if it's more than just oil and filter (maybe cabin filter?) change.

I think it is worth it. I was able to get them to throw it in free for my S4 and paid for it with my other.

Yes, it has been beaten to death. However, you ask if it's worth it for 36K miles. Since Audi Care covers the 4 service intervals (15K, 25K, 35K and 45K), unless you keep it to 45K miles, it might not pay. That said, any unused portion is transferable to a new owner if you sell the car which could make it either more valuable or easier to sell. General consensus is Audi Care is a good value and will save you money if you intend to have the dealer service the car.

Sounds good, i might keep the car depending on what Audi has coming out 3-4 years from now.

I don't drive more than 10k miles a year and i like to change cars a lot so leasing is for me.

I think Audi Care is good for people who move frequently because it can be used at any dealer. It protects you from inflation should service or oil prices suddenly jump. If you think you can get it "thrown in" when you buy a new car, you are still paying for it in a higher price for the car. It does not make sense to pay interest on service in the future.

My local dealer in Los Angeles is competitive with other dealers, and the price of the four services is actually less than Audi Care. During the warranty period I had a single out of pocket expense for a cracked fog light.

Where Audi dealers are few and far between Audi Care might make sense because those dealers do not compete and have inflated service prices like the NY Metro dealers that like to jack up you trousers and rotate your wallet.

If you are leasing, I understand why you might want to save a little money on service because you are paying over $ 5,000.00 more to drive the car than if you had bought the car and sold it. Leasing is fleecing.

Maybe in L.A. but I can confirm in the Boston-Providence area there is no way that Audi Care isn't less expensive than the 4 services done individually. Unless you use an independent shop and then it's about the same as Audi Care - 30% or so less than what a dealer charges. As to not making sense to pay for service in the future, it all depengs on what the dealer will charge for the services. If Audi care is less, it makes sense, especially with the cost of money being so cheap right now. The OP should simply ask the dealer what they charge for the covered services and decide.

I agree with the "thrown in" being a mirage. Audi Care cost to the dealer is very close to retail - if thrown in, it's all part of the discount you should have received without it. Ain't no free rides.
