2013 audi a4 eats a spark plug electrode

Default 2013 audi a4 eats a spark plug electrode

Alright so I decided to treat myself is an APR stage 1 tune and I was advised to get new and better spark plugs. Went and got them (ngk platinum gapped to .028) well I got a little down the road and the car felt like complete ****. It threw 2 misfires in the first and second cylinder. I stopped almost immediately and checked the plugs. The electrodes on those in the Cylinder 1 and 2 broke into the engine. I'm smart enough to know that's not good so I sat there for awhile calling shops and seeing my options. Everyone is backed up and it be like 2 weeks before I could get it handled. Eventually said **** it put the old plugs in then got new ones and drove the car over an hour back to my house. The Cylinder 1 Misfire has cleared itself but the other one hasn't. My buddy seems to think it's a bent valve because anything above 2500 rpms the car is perfect. Do any of you have any suggestions as to what it could be or can confirm if that sounds right?

not really. tried to fix everything but it was still having errors. ended up selling it for 5k before I went back to japan. funny enough once i left japan, i picked up a 62k mile 13 a4 Quattro manual that I just lost to a flood. I think im done with audi for now lol.

I for sure didn't (i would hope) as they came from an autoparts store.

I did. They came from Amazon. My conditions were pretty much identical to what you describe. There are loads of phony parts being sold out there.

The ground strap on two of my four plugs were really soft and completely opened up so I had a huge gap after driving a few thousand miles. Nothing broke off and I was able to get replacement plugs in there right away.

Also, NGK calls those plugs " pre-gapped to .032" " and doesn't want people adjusting them as the platinum tip is fragile. Bosch says the same thing for the OE plugs.

My 2011 A4 has APR Stage 1. Those guys installed the NGK Iridium plugs and gapped to .026".
