Default B&B performance intake for Audi B8 A4 2.0T

Hi every one, i have a 2009 Audi A4 2.0T quattro, i ordered the B&B cold air intake from Global Autoshop, DON'T MAKE MY MISTAKE..... You get an air filter inside a metal cone, with a 2" opening in the front and what suppose to be a "Heat protector" thin metal sheet. The product don't even fit right, your car will be breathing the hot air coming off your engine and that defeat the purpose of having a cold air intake. Its 160$ down the drain.

I made the same mistake, the intake is worthless. I fought with Global Auto Shop and got my money back. Carbonio is coming out with a carbon fiber intake in a month or so for the B8. It's gonna be pricy but it will be the real deal.

Thanks for the heads up. I posted a question a few months ago about a good cold air intake system and nobody had a good product to recommend. Hopefully the carbonio system will be legit and affordable. The intake system for my C63 was well over $1k

Default Update

While waiting for the Carbonio unit to come out I did some research on the new K&N Typhoon intake for the B8. After reading numerous write ups and watching Youtube videos I learned that the intake works well. The only issue I can find is the a few of the B8 owners report an annoying whistle noise during normal driving. The sound clips of the system in action sound really cool. The bypass valve sound is more prominent and sounds awesome. A few people did report that the whistle noise was so annoying they removed the intake and are awaiting the Carbonio unit. Just an FYI for the rest of guys waiting for a good intake like me. Hope it helps.

I read the reviews also and checked the K&N kit out. I just don't see the rubber seal that goes between the hood and the metal blocking plate holding up or shielding out that much heat. I think the extra $80 or so for the Carbonio will be money well spent. While K&N makes a great air filter, the cold air intake systems I've bought in the past were cheap and flimsy.

I bought the K&n about 2 weeks ago and I'm happy with it. I love the sound it makes and I defininitly feel the power gains about after 15 miles I drove it. I give it a 10 out of 10. It's really fun DIY on a weekend.

You know what, after reading the last post I broke down and bought the K&N Typhoon sytem. I must say, I love the sound and added power. You can hear the turbo so much more now and even get a nice little boost release sound. I also just got the Forge atmospheric blow off spacer which I'm gonna install soon. I was gonna wait for the Carbonio intake but I'm glad I got the K&N. I'm sure a saved a few buck too over the Carbonio unit which is projected to run between 400.00 to 500.00. I will post an update after the blow off valve spacer is installed.

Ok, Forge spacer has been installed and it sounds great! Super easy to put in as long as you can get under the car. Took about 30 minutes from start to finish. I'm two weeks into the K&N Typhoon intake and have removed it due to the annoying whistle noise between 2000 and 3000 RPM. I initially didn't notice it too much but it became more annoying as I noticed it more. It's not a pleasant sound. At any rate I'm trying to return it for a credit to possibly buy the Carbonio intake that's now available. Has anyone installed the Carbonio unit yet, and if so how does it sound?

I have mine ordered and it's suppose to be here in less then 1 week. APR claims the unit is very quiet, but I'll let you know when it gets here.

Thanks, please let me know. The Typhoon system sounded nice as long as you were on the gas hard. Normal driving produced an extremely annoying whistle (sounded like a loose belt spinning) between 2000 and 3000rpm. Friends in my car would say "why does your car shound like ****?". I took it off the next day. I contacted K&N and they are taking it back.
