Default Body scratches solutions needed

Alright, my wife scratched the right front bumper during parking.
Basically the paint is completely gone and I could see the black plastic.

How can I fix this? I know most of body shop would like to paint the whole bumper (more money) and easier.

I knew this is coming sooner or later. It was all my fault to buy a brand new Audi for a brand new driver.

Don't fix it so soon. Chances are, there will be more scratches coming. Give time for the new driver to get more drive experience. Then you get a quote from a good body shop to fix them all.

She is not going to drive the Audi anymore.

I was wondering maybe I can just fix the scratches myself. I saw some DIY body work website. But the problem is I don't have oven to cook the paint, so the new paint probably won't last long.

I need to talk to my Audi dealer to see if there are any options do I have. I'm very upset and probably can't staight and do crazy things. don't mind me if I say stupid things (i'm kinda in vent mode, sorry).

About 2 years I had a fender bender (though no actual bending occurred - only left a small hole) and messed up the paint on my rear bumper. While I was telling my Audi service tech this, he pointed me to their paint specialist, who happened to be there, and he offered to fix it for $300.00 without painting the whole bumper. He did a good job, though you can see where he blended the paint if you look real close.

Thanks for sharing that information, Rick. I guess there might be some light at the end of the tunnel for me. I just couldn't pull myself out of it and not thinking about it at this moment. The car is only 10 days old, I would never expected something like this happen so soon.

Anyway it probably going to cost me more than $300 to fix the scratches on my car. There are several long (6") horizontal deep scratches on the front right side bumper, one scratch is right underneath of the lamp, I could even see the metal on this one.

I would be doomed if they need to change the whole bumper.

If you see metal you should fix it ASAP or it will start to rust and eventually cost you a lot more. At least put some touch up paint while you decide what to do.

There is no DIY solution thats going to restore it to new condition. So if you want it to look right, you have no choice but to bring it to a body shop. It's worth the money to have it done right.

Yes - bite the bullet and get it fixed well now. Just think of it as something you have to do. If some stranger did it or stole a wheel and tire you'd fuss less. Your wife is worth your forgiveness and she should support getting it done right, then make believe it never happened.

What everyone said.. Go check with a few body shop, the cost may not be as high. It won't be cheap... it is an Audi.

Try look at the bright side. If you really need a new bumper, maybe its time to get the Sline bumper (if the car isn't already Sline). Even with deep scratches, body shops may be able to do their magic.

Can't you use the insurance for this purpose? I know my friend had a similar damage to her front bumper, although she didn't do it someone in the parking lot did and the insurance covered the bumper replacement costs...
