Default Engine crank sensor question

I’m working on this 2015 audi a4 2.0 . The smaller less thicker sensor in picture says this is the one that fits my car but the other sensor that’s thicker was in the engine block. Is it ok to install the less thicker one even though the engine block hole sensor location is so big? Also there different prong one 2 prong and 3 prong the harness on car is setup for 3 prong harness

B8.0 uses 2-pin; B8.5 uses 3-pin; they are not interchangeable.

For B8.5, it was 3-pin sensor 06H906433C (now rev D) and harness connector 4H0973703A, with gray/yellow wire on 1, green/brown wire on 2, and blue/black wire on 3.

For B8.0, it was 2-pin sensor 06H906433 and harness connector 4D0971992, with brown/green wire on 1 and yellow wire on 2.

What harness connector p/n and wire colors are present?

Is there any reason that chassis had a B8.0 engine swapped into it and they decided not to do the conversion and just move the B8.0 engine harness and ECM over with the B8.0 engine core? Do you have an ECM p/n out of VCDS, or a harness p/n off the harness tag?

Me and my brother bought this car a few years ago with high mileage and some transmission issue probably due to owner putting some huge wheels. My brother drove it home and a few days later my 2011 audi a4 2.0 started having issues so my brother said use this 2015 audi a4 and put in your car. We tried installing in my 2011 audi a4 2.0 but it didn’t work so we stored motor in garage and stole parts from the 2015 audi a4 for my 2011 a4 2.0 and my moms 2011 audi q5 2.0. I just reinstalled the motor back in car the other day

I never used vcds with this vehicle I didn’t have vcds cable at the time. I’m almost done installing everything back on the car. So can I use the 3 pin crankshaft sensor on this car even though the magnet is just alittle less thicker the one I removed or is it gonna cause the engine to have issues?

Ok, so this is the original B8.5 engine from the B8.5 vehicle? Then that two-pin crank position sensor was never there, when it operated. You all must have put it there when moving things around, maybe when trying to put it in a B8.0 vehicle, which would have required the 2-pin (and a complete engine harness swap over).

Since you tried using the engine in B8.0 vehicles, I'm still left having to assume it's a CAE engine and not a CPM engine? The B8.5 vehicle was a 6MT or CVT?

That 3-pin connector you're showing, are you sure that yellow/red isn't measuring 12V (from fuse 7) to the brown on pin 1? Because that's not for the crank position sensor. That's for the V51 afterrun coolant pump:
chassis ground, brown on 1
fused 12V, yellow'red on 2
PWM control, gray/blue on 3

That connector is not on the branch with the crank position sensor either. Assuming this is a B8.5 CAE engine in a B8.5 vehicle:
https://partsouq.com/en/catalog/genu...uid=5016400&q=

The two 23s, one is the 3-pin to the crank position sensor, one is the 6-pin to the steering rack J500. Don't ask me why they gave both plugs the number 23 in the diagram. No idea. The 25 2-pin that is on that branch should be for the N80 EVAP purge valve. 27, 28, 29 are the three on the tree hanging under the back end of the intake manifold. The 14-pin to stuff, the 8-pin to the injectors, and the 3-pin to the knock sensor.

That 3-pin to the V51 is one of the 33s, on the bottom middle branch.

So one of the 3 pin comnectors goes to the crank shaft sensor and the other 3 pin connector goes to some coolant bypass thing. Both the 3 pin connectors look the same except for the wiring colors how do I know which connector plugs in where?

By the wiring colors. I've pointed out the coloring of the wires for both devices, so you should know which goes to which now. The V51 pump is not a bypass; it's the pump that runs at engine off to circulate coolant through the turbo.

Thanks smac I read your message again The red yellow goes to coolant run pump. The other goes to crank sensor. I broke the rear outlet coolant flange yesterday when hooking up small hose coming from rear of coolant bottle. New part arriving today. All I have left to connect is coolant flange Hoses lines for coolant flange and coolant bottle and reinstall battery. This car is ea888 I watched videos ea888 water pump to see how the coolant run pump was mounted . All my other other Audi never had this coolant run pump. And this car has no power steering pump or power steering reservoir I bought pump and reservoir thinking they were missing
