It is missing about a quart.

You can fill it up yourself, it is very easy !

If you put in (1) quart with that gauge reading the next thing the display would say is "Please drain oil".
I would only put in a half quart to avoid that.

Here is what I personally do:

Go to the dealer and buy a couple of quarts of oil (my car goes through 1 quart in 2000 miles but YMMW). When the car is 1 quart low a yellow warning will appear on the dashboard with a message "You can continue driving but add 1 quart of oil". At that point you can add exactly 1 quart without any guesswork and the monitor will go back to full.

All of 2.0T engines seem to burn oil, which sucks. Unless the consumption is excessive (0.5 quarts in 600 miles) there is not much you can or should do.

One would hope that you would go in steps and not pour the whole quart all at once !

Yes but buy the oil now because it might not be too long before you get the warning. Think of the electronic display as if it were the marked area on a dipstick. If the oil mark is in the area you are OK, if it's below you add 1 quart.

Thanks again, I will go to the dealer soon, I just picked up my audi about a week and a half ago and i'm writing down things i want the dealer to take a look at (i didn't buy it at an audi dealer)and because it still under warranty i want it all corrected before the warranty runs out. the sunroof squeaks when i open it, the steering wheel shakes a little at low speeds (like in a parking lot). Also, I will see if I can get a new crankcase pressure-regulating valve to solve the oil consumption issue that will be nice....not bad for a gal that didn't know anything about Audis before i bought this one huh......
