Fault Code 01496
Does anyone know why, upon me removing my ugly yellow fog light bulbs and inserting [stunning] Sirius 30W 6000K Super Bright White LEDs, my car threw a Fault Code 01496? Would this be an issue of the vehicle requiring a load resistor because these things are too bright? OR is this an issue of someone at Audi didn't "Sign off" on a product from Sirius? The other more technical question I suppose is without a MIL being thrown I assume this is definitely not an issue that needs to be addressed today right? Still if I drive around with these in the fog light housing, will the wiring harness somehow get fried or like will they burn out prematurely because of their brightness and the load resistor is a method to reduce current flowing to them but potentially making them less appealing to look at?

01496 just means something with the left fog light bulb. You need the rest of the DTC code that says the actual problem.
From another VWVortex thread that had the same code, notice two instance of the same code, but different data, reflecting different issues.

So both bulbs work [look] great and I can see the road a fair bit better. I didn't have to time research the code further but will use my Carista app to do so.

So if you didn't want to remove the new bulbs and replace the old bulbs you can't determine if the new bulbs are causing the problem. Based on this you'll have to find others who will advise you .

Using Carista i got the same fault error on both bulbs

You need more info, like what I posted above. So there's some issue from the BCM's perspective regarding both headlights, but you're missing the rest of the DTC data to say what the actual problem is.

how would i get this extra information? This is what the app provided. From the dash board I don’t get any warnings or faults.

With these modern cars, they know far more than the manufacturers will ever let them tell their owner. Remember, you're not Audi's customer, the dealership is.
If you're going to troubleshoot your own Audi, the normal tool to have is Ross-Tech VCDS (ross-tech.com). There's another tool that was referenced around here too, that runs on phones/tablets (maybe it was Carista you mentioned). I use VCDS.
Looking into Carista, maybe that was the one some talked about here. I think it used to have a Pro price point that included what I would consider basic functionality. Looks like the pricing model has changed, now you pay $40/year to get the real tool. The paid version should be able to pull the complete DTC data.
