Default How to break-in engine properly?

We are expecting our 2013 Quattro w/8sp in early December. I'm aware not to rev it too much or go at a high rate of speed etc. Are there any other tried and true methods to ensure the rings seat properly or anything else for that matter?

Thanks!

Per my salesman - To avoid the oil consumption, drive the first 500 miles in SPORT [S] mode, then back to [D] if you wish.

Engines are pretty much pre-broken in after assembly. Just don't drive at highway speeds for any long period of time. Meaning vary your speed for the first 500 - 1000 miles. drive at 50mph and then 65mph and back down to 50 . Just vary the speed. Try to get as many city miles as well as highway miles. After the 1st 1000 miles just drive normally. Don't do a lot of jack rabbit starts or minimize any downshifting. Other then that have fun.

Regrettably, your salesman is an idiot. The proper break in procedure is described in the owner's manual.

It's not complicated; just do what the manual says.

Did he also mention that for the first 500 miles you should be sure to rub your tummy with your right hand and shift with your left hand while listening exclusively to the Back Street Boys on a Blackberry?
