How does the iPod integration work if you don't have the MMI?

How does the iPod integration work if you don't have the MMI?

I'm thinking about getting an A4 Premium Plus, but I'm not sure that I want the Nav system in. I'd only really need it for the hard drive space if I wanted to rip and store music.

So, without the Nav hard drive, how does the iPod connectivity work?

Can you still use the screen or the steering wheel to go through your music and everything?

Exactly, you use the wheel to scroll through songs, playlists, artists, etc, just like an ipod. Just connect the ipod in the glove box and take it out when you wanna put more songs on.

I believe you get the memory card reader with the Concert or Symphony radio. I heard it should work with 32Gbyte cards that you can put MP3 music on from a computer.

OTOH there are other advantages that comes with (or are possible options together with) the navigator.

iPod connects in the glove box via the AMI (which is wired into the back of your receiver). This device would also allow for USB and BT connections.

You can interface with the iPod directly through the Infotainment system by way of the steering wheel controls or the controls on the console unit.

Of course if you just get a Concert (1CD) or Symphony (6 CD) radio, the SD card slot will happily play music you ripped with itunes (apple files m4a), so you don't have to re-rip them as mp3's if you already did it for your i-thing.
This is handy if you don't want to leave your ipod in the glovebox...
