iPod Functionality
Purchased a '09 A4 S-Line on Saturday to replace my '04 A4. Bought a 3rd gen iPod Nano with 8GB memory for permanent use in the car. It seems to work well, however, whenever I start the car, it starts the first song, alphabetically, on the iPod. Same song, every time.
Is this standard, or is there a way to make it resume from the last song played? Or is this maybe a limitation of the 3rd gen vs. 4th gen?
In any event, it works better than my iPhone, which I kept forgetting in the car, and made a small popping noise whenever I skipped to next track.

FWIW, I've got an iPod video 5G that I always leave connected to the AMI and if I set the MMI to have it play in random order from the song list, it remembers the spot next time I start the car. However, if I manually choose a song in random mode with the MMI, it reverts to alpha order from that selected song and I have to reset to random play again. Just advancing to the next song using the MMI song "advance" button on the console does not take it out of random mode. Weird behavior.

I have a dedicated Ipod for the car. It only skips to the first song when the Ipod is unplugged or i have to restart it. If you leave the Ipod in and turn of the car it will return to where it was when you turn the car back on.

Same here. It starts playing the first song if it's been unplugged or crashed. Otherwise it resumes from the same spot were it stopped last time.

After playing around a bit more, I think it's acting as you guys have described.
Another question though... is there a way to use the multifunction steering wheel to Skip to the next track if you're set to Random All?
