The long block that I bought from Audi is missing the SN on engine block, did anyone else bought long block that can check if VW writes SN on engine blocks used to build long engine block, all I have is front sticker on valve cover showing the engine code and SN. But the SN on engine block looks like it was removed or never laser printed.

RR4 is not the engine code. CAE is the engine code. One has to wonder what RR4 means, and why it seems to be on all the "not going into a VIN'd vehicle build" engines. Could be "type R 4-cyl"? (R4 would be German for I4) So they build a bunch of these generic RR4 EA888 Gen2 2.0T engines and then slap whatever pickup tube and lower oil pan and intake manifold and turbo and fuel system on it and it becomes a A3 CCT or TT CET or A4 CAE? There's just not enough info on what the whole RR4 thing is and why a CAE engine (currently 06H 100 036 C) isn't marked like the ones placed into new vehicle builds.

I asked Audi dealer parts departments what is this RR4? and not on the list of engines codes on latest repair manual. This is what he said.
"I believe that is the engine's serial number but the same long block can fit the needs for multiple engines codes in multiple markets for multiple vehicles. The part number you bought might fit ten engine codes worldwide. In that case no engine code marking makes the most sense.
In some markets the same basic turbocharged engine can be sold with more than one HP or PS output as limited by parts or software other than the long block. For VW it is cost effective to make as few replacement parts numbers as possible to keep costs down. Again, because cheaper to do it that way."
