No oil info?

Default No oil info?
While trying to learn about my new car, I've been browsing through the MMI settings to see what info is offered. When I went to check the oil level, I got a message saying:

"Information about oil not available."

What's up with that?

BTW: I had the ignition on. Should I have had it off? I tried it both ways, but it didn't work.

I remember the same thing happened to me when I first checked it. It works fine now though. Is your car brand new? I'm pretty sure the ignition should be on as thats how I check mine.

Default Yes, brand new -- 15 miles on the odo when I picked it up.

Start up the ignition but do it without putting your foot on the brake pedal and see what happens.

I just tried what you suggested, and it didn't work. All I got was this message:

"There currently is no information about the oil level."

Mine works most of the time, but I have seen the message that you are getting. Most of the time it will give me a good reading while I'm driving, but I've had it display the "no information available" messsage while driving also. I'm not sure exactly what the right conditions are to get consistent results. I may actually have to break out the owner's manual to see if it provides any answers.

The car needs to be "warmed up" for a couple of miles before it will give you a reading. It will give you the "Information about oil not available" message in the interim.
