Default Paint issue

So I finally got a chance to hand wash my car this weekend now that weather is nice in Michigan. As I was drying it, I noticed several orange colored, rust-type dots all over it. It's Ibis white so fairly easy to spot if you're close enough. There is no chipping or dings around the spots, though. Has anyone else seen this happen? I drive a lot on the highway so I don't know if it's from a construction vehicle or semi I was behind. I'm not super worried since it's a lease, but I would like to know if this is common thing among B8's.

Same here! My B8 is Quartz Grey and about 5 months old. With the winter we've had in Iowa, last weekend was the first chance that I had to hand wash mine too. I thought it was some type of road grime (particularly since I just returned from Nashville a week or so ago) but now you've got me wondering. In my case I'm seeing them mostly on the front doors. Let me know if you have any luck getting them off. I thought that I'd start with some basic bug/tar remover or Meguiar's paint cleaner this week.

If these are tiny bright orange dots, maybe with a little "tail", then I have them too. They are near impossible to take off with a fingernail or just water. They came off very easy with some Turtle Wax Tar remover. I assumed it was just some type of bug I was hitting when driving. I would be curious if people knew otherwise...

The Turtle Wax sounds like a good plan. I'll give that a try this weekend and let you know how it goes.

I also have this spots mostly behind the trunk license plate area. I think it is from the matallic brake dust rusting on your paint. I use the autobody clay to remove the orange rust particles.

If you drive over rail road tracks, it could be from the rail dust as well. Tiny bits of metal settle on the paint and then rust leaving a tiny orange spot.

If waxing does not work, a clay bar definitely will.

As others have mentioned, it is indeed rust. Not sure the cause, but most waxes will get it off.

get yourself a good clay bar and those spots will come off pretty easily. make sure you wax your car after you clay bar it. You should really be clay barring your car at least once a year anyway.

New poster here...

Got a 2011 A4 Prestige 6MT on the way.

Anyway, the clay is really the way to go. I use the speed shine and clay at www.griots.com. His stuff is a little pricey, but always works great.
