Default Paint problem?

Since it's the first sunny day we've had in weeks, I went outside to wash and wax my car. I noticed these funny marks on my trunk. They comprise an area a little bigger than my thumb. I tried using some mild scratch remover on them, but it didn't work. Is this a paint defect, and should I take the car back to my dealership?

Hard to tell - is this on the flat deck part of the trunk (top)? It sort of looks like scratches, but I don't know. Maybe shrub or tree branches that have blown in the wind and repeatedly rubbed. Are they scratches or is it under the clearcoat?

I think they're scratches. Yes, they are on the flat top part of the trunk. I can feel them with my fingernail. It's funny, because I park my car in a big open parking lot at work (no trees or shrubs) and at home I keep my car in the garage. I don't know what could've caused the scratches.

I've seen people in parking lots set their bag/package on a neighboring car while they open their car. I witnessed one such instance where they rested a box on another person's trunk and then dragged it off the back to put it in their car. I'm sure it left some nice marks on the paint.

Some folks have no concept that others care about such things. They are in their own little world.

Perhaps something similar happened to you.

I wonder if thats covered by the warranty, i have some passenger door edge chips that are just constantly reminding me that i cant control all factors that could harm the car.

scratches, likely someone used your car as a shelf and dragged their box or whatever across the paint. It is deffinitely not a defect.

try using a product called scratchx. It is sold at Canadian Tire, or other syores.
