Default Speedometer clocks

Hi has anyone ever changed the speedometer clock cluster on Audi a4, is it just a straight swap for new one ? Or would there have to be reprogramming

If you mean the DIS (driver information screen), I believe it's just a straight remove and replace, so long as it's the same part.

I mean the whole unit, previous owner scratch the connections for engine Managment light, isn’t salvageable for a new led light to re solder easier to change the whole caseing, would you know if it’s just disconnect harness and reconnect, I know I may have to adjust the speed and rev needles if needed be,but in relation to programming anything for the ecu not too sure seeing mixed things on YouTube etc

If you mean the entire J285 instrument cluster unit, then yeah, that has long coding you'll need to set the same as your current unit. Any tool that can do long coding can apply that (VCDS, etc). But it'll also have component protection active; you'll need to reset that using ODIS (you, a shop, a dealership, whoever with an active subscription to Audi). You can use a used unit, but you'll need to find one with mileage close or less than yours. You can advance the mileage value to your current value, but you can't reduce it after the first 100 km.
