Default For those that custom ordered how long did it take?

My lease on my current car is up in 4 months. For those who custom ordered their cars how long did it take?

Right now I'm considering the following:

A4 2.0T Quattro Premium Plus
Brilliant Black
Black Leather
Navigation
Bang and Olufsen

I'm trying to gauge how soon I should start talking to a dealer.

It took 10 weeks. Get exactly what you want....Why settle?

I completely agree, my current car is a subaru which I custom ordered. If I'm buying a new car I want it exactly they way I want it. Just wanted to get an idea of timing.

Ordered mine beginning of January and it came in mid-March. I think it might also depend on what your dealer has allocated... I got one of the only 6MT going to my dealer for the year. Definitely worth the wait to get exactly what I wanted and was very surprised to get a good discount on a special order car. BMW told me I'd have to pay MSRP on a special order but my Audi dealer gave me 1% over invoice. Very pleased with the whole experience.

I ordered my 2010 S-Line with ADS in the first week of January. Took 12 weeks.

mine was suppose to take 3 months and it only took 10 weeks, but if yours is a 2011 model you might have to wait extra, they might seat at the port a little longer

Good point, I hadn't factored in the model year change

Ordered mine April 25th 2009, ordered a 2010. It was built and in the states by first week July but sat at the port until model release July 17th.

I took delivery July 21st-first 2010 delivered by the dealer (possibly in NY state.)

My advice is order EXACTLY what you want--it is DEFINITELY worth the wait.

About 11 Weeks.

Ordered: 3/10/10
In port (Rhode Island): 5/21/10
At dealer: 6/1/10
Pick up: TOMORROW!

I wanted a manual. That factor alone almost required a custom order -- unless you wanted black on black and even then I would have had to compromise on certain things. I was initially amazed it was that difficult to get, but after reading up, I realized I was hardly alone.

It is worth the wait because while 10-12 weeks is really a long time when you're waiting, driving a car around for 4-10 years that you don't really love is even longer.

It took exactly 99 days from order to receipt for my S4 custom order. They had the A4 S-Line sitting on the show room floor when I picked it up and I bought it for my wife about two weeks later. If I had ordered my wife's car the only option I would have added was the back up camera which I still cannot belive comes with the S4 Navi but not the A4 Navi. If you are going to spend $40-50K+ for a car I say get exactly what you want. Good luck!
