Default Thoughts on installing a clear bra

Has anyone installed a clear bra on their car?

If so,

(1) What areas did you cover?

(2) Where did you buy your kit?

(3) How much & how long did it take you?

(4) If you could do it over, what would you have done differently?

Thanks

I would definitely recommend the 3M product. Did part of the hood, mirrors, portion of the quarter panels, headlamps and fogs. With clear-bra products everything depends on the expertise of the installer. Make sure you go with someone with a track record and who stands behind their work. I paid $400.00.

I too had the 3M Ventureshield installed, in my case by the dealer prior to delivery. They did a very good job and hardly noticeable even up close. Same areas as Mellowman and I would certainly recommend it.

I had the bumper, front of hood and fenders, mirrors, headlights, and rear bumper top done with 3M. After much frustration trying to touch up chips on my last car, and reading about the hit and miss results different people get with the repair kits, I'm very happy with the result.

Would/did anyone actually attempt or do the clear bra themselves?

I've been watching some tutorials and it doesn't seem all that hard. Especially, with pre-cut kits to meet the dimensions of the A4, I'm wondering if this is a DIY project.

I'm a handy man type but didn't want to try this myself. I think the mostly flat surfaces or small areas would be OK. I think it's the kind of project where you would be reasonably good at it by the time you finished, but getting there could be frustrating. I don't know how forgiving the material is. You could try a single section and see what you think. The bumper would be tricky I think.

I've done parts of a kit and you have to make sure your work are is SPOTLESS. If you don't you'll end up with dirt trapped under the film and that sucks ***. Considering the shape of the B8 front end it shouldn't be too hard but the REALLY good kits are $1K+

My brother bought a kit off eBay for his Honda fit and I installed it for him. Not bad but I took my S5 to my installer that has done all my cars. My brother is the kind of person as long as it protects it I am the kind it better look damn good. It turned out good but I don not like kits because they do not cover as well as a custom job.

(1) What areas did you cover? Bumper, hood, fenders

(2) Where did you buy your kit? Through a reputable installer

(3) How much & how long did it take you? $450 and a few hours, also washed and claybarred the car too.

(4) If you could do it over, what would you have done differently? Don't get paint chips before install lol!
