Default Re: Is wheel insurance available through audi?

I almost got it on my 2008 B7 A4. The coverage applies only to tires and/or wheels that are damaged by road hazards. I had been looking for coverage against things like curb rash, but after reading that the wheel is only covered when there is a damaged tire first, I decided not to get it. If you hit a massive pothole and it blows the tire causing the rim to hit the pavement, then you're OK, it is covered. The dealer told me that if I hit a pothole and the wheel scraped the side of the hole but the impact did not damage the tire I would not be coverd for the wheel damage and absolutley no coverage for something that clearly looked like a wheel hitting a curb, etc.

Default I got it thru my dealer.

$795 for 5 yrs. Figured it was worth it with 18" wheels.

Default Do you know how much one Prestige wheel costs?

I have A4 Prestige coming this month. $795 seems pricey given that wheels have to be damaged in a specific way for insurance to pay out. I am wondering if you could just buy a couple of 18'' wheels for this price.

Probably $600(ish) each for an 18" Prestige replacement wheel.

Default these insurances are always thru the dealer, audi doesn't do anything like this unless there is a

manufacturer defect in the wheel.

Default Re: Probably $600(ish) each for an 18" Prestige replacement wheel.

I ask because my previouslease was a BMW 3 series with the sport package and 18" wheels and I had some issues. Keep in mind that the tires were run flats but I had to replace 3 tires over the duration of a 2 year lease(due to bubbles on the sidewall).....and i made a conscious effort not to hit pot holes. I also live and work in New York city which, as you can imagine does not have the best roads by any stretch. I just remember wishing there was an insurance available to cover the cost of the tires( over 400 each) but was very happy not to damage a rim which really would have cost me. Now I have on the way 19" wheels on the A4 so I think I am going to go with the wheel insurance.

You may come out ahead w/ the insurance on run flats ($$$). I wouldn't bother w/ regular tires.

Default is there a big difference ?

is there a big difference between the run flats and a regular tire in regards to damage? Do you think even with the 19" s-line wheels I will still be ok not getting the insurance? Or are the 19"s more suceptible to damage. I cant remeber if there is alot of tire wall on the s-line wheels compared with the standard....pics are hard to gauge. Thanks

Default I was talking about difference in tire cost, and that I have heard and read about a lot of...

run-flats "bubbling" and having to be replaced. I don't hear that happening to folks with standard tires.
